You may notice on your medical plan details that a type of dental and vision benefit is included. All medical plans are required by law to include a pediatric dental and pediatric vision benefits.
These benefits are for children 18 and younger and are included with your medical plan. All dependent children 18 or younger who are enrolled in your medical plan will automatically have these dental and vision benefits. They do not cost extra. Eligibility ends the first day of the month following the member’s 19th birthday. If the child member still is in need of dental and vision coverage, they are now eligible to sign up for the stand alone dental and vision plans (if offered by your employer).
Pediatric dental and vision includes standard preventive care, like teeth cleanings and eye exams. You can find out more about the specifics of these benefits on your Summary of Benefits and Coverage document located in your SimplyInsured dashboard.
