Yes. You can add an employee or dependent who does not have a social security
number. Some instances where this scenario might occur include:
- Adding a newborn dependent when they have not been issued a social security number yet, but will need to be added as a dependent within 30 days of birth during a
special enrollment period.
- Adding spouses and children of employees who are in the United States on work visas
Despite not needing a social security number to enroll initially, your insurance company
may send a request for social security during renewal.
Note that our application process will also require that you enter a social security number. You can input "123451234" into that field. Once they do receive one, you can send it to us and we will update the insurance company.
