Yes. Family members can have different primary care physicians (PCPs). PCPs are typically family doctors, general practitioners, and pediatricians.
If you have an HMO plan:
You are required to have an assigned PCP. If you do not select a PCP on your own, your insurer will select one on your behalf. You can double check on your medical ID card that you receive in the mail to confirm your assigned PCP.
You can also select a PCP of your choice as long as this doctor is in-network with your health insurance carrier.
To double check your doctor is in-network, you can use your carrier's Doctor Search Tool.
If you are on a PPO, POS, or EPO plan:
Family members can see different doctors without assigning a primary care doctor.
