If you have recently added a dependent to your insurance, you can expect that their enrollment will be processed within a week. Your dependent's coverage will start on the date you chose when adding them to your dashboard. For example, if you added a dependent to your insurance on March 15th, their coverage would start on April 1st.
Please note that there are a few exceptions to be aware of based on your dependent's qualifying event:
If you added a newborn baby as a dependent:
Coverage will start on the day the baby was born. For example, if the baby is born on April 15th, coverage would start on April 15th.
If you added a spouse as a dependent with a qualifying event of "marriage":
Coverage will start based on the wedding date listed on the marriage certificate. For example, if you and your spouse were married on June 10th, their coverage would start on June 10th.
ID cards typically take 2-3 weeks to arrive by mail. For most insurance companies, you will share the same ID numbers as your dependents. Your dependent can use your ID card if they need to verify their coverage and have not yet received their ID cards.
